My background is in synthetic organic chemistry and polymer chemistry (B. Sc. Fudan Univ. P.R. China; Ph.D. Stanford Univ.). I am interested in using chemical design and synthesis, at both molecular level and macromolecular level, to create functional molecules, multifunctional supramolecules and polymers, and smart organic-semiconductor interfaces tailored with molecular level precision. These robust and reliable materials will have applications on a variety of technology platforms such as nanoelectronics, sensors and space exploration. Current projects include the study of coordination compounds for charge storage in nanowire transistor memory devices, development of novel chemistry to functionalize Si, Ge surfaces and novel high performance conducting materials suitable for space applications. In my spare time, I enjoy teaching undergraduate organic chemistry courses at San Jose State University. Selected publications:
